Haven (Keyboard Percussion Publications) composed by Jonathan Kolm was written for Thad Anderson in 2009. A simple three note melodic idea is featured and developed through lush chorale-like sections, thickly scored blocked chords, and fluid arpeggiations. Beginning reflective and growing more intense, these less comfortable emotions evolve and develop to an ecstatic release followed by a satisfyingly tranquil quasi cadenza. One last reflective chorale intensifies and settles in a calming and serene A-flat major closing section. Mallets Used: Malletech CN 4 in mallet slot 1, 3 Malletech TB 11’s in mallet slot 2-4.
