about

Molitva II and III (manu) composed by Stephen Barber in 2006 for Thomas Burritt, these works are some of the only pieces specifically written in a chorale style for the marimba. In this style the performer must continuously restrike each bar to create sustain with the goal of capturing the unique singing quality of the instrument. A follow up to Molitva I, which closes out my first CD, Molitva means prayer. This is music “from the gut”, saying anything more would be like writing a dissertation on Kum Bai Ya. Mallets Used: 3 Malletech LHS 1’s in mallet slot 1-3, 1 Malletech LHS 5 in mallet slot 4.
