about

Written for Doug Johnson Waltz in many ways typifies Stout’s compositional language. Here, articulation (tenuto markings, metric pulse, long phrase) markings dominate the compositional process. Constant tension exists between the “waltz” feel and the irregular duple and mixed meters. While Waltz holds its own it behaves even more effectively as a “pseudo scherzo”, sitting in the usual 3rd movement position in a four movement “pseudo symphonic” work. Mallets Used: 1 Malletech CN4 in mallet slot 1, 2 Malletech TB 11’s in mallet slot 2-3, 1 Malletech TB 14 in mallet slot 4.
